High-Fibre Snack or Breakfast Bowl

A simple, nourishing bowl combining soluble and insoluble fibre to support healthy bowel movements and gut microbiome diversity.

Serves: 1–2
Preparation: 5–10 minutes (plus fruit preparation)
Dietary: Gluten-free (with suitable ingredients), dairy-free option, no added sugar

Ingredients

  • 1 cup stewed green apple or 1 cup fresh or stewed berries (fresh or frozen, cooked with water only, no added sugar)

  • 2 tbsp LSA mix (ground linseed, sunflower seeds and almonds)

  • 2 tbsp plain natural yoghurt (Jalna, sheep's, goat's or coconut yoghurt)

  • 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

  • 1 tbsp psyllium husks

  • Soy, almond, oat, rice or cashew milk, to desired consistency

Method

  1. Place the stewed apple or berries in a serving bowl.

  2. Add the LSA, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds and psyllium husks.

  3. Spoon over the yoghurt and add enough milk to achieve your preferred consistency.

  4. Mix well and allow to stand briefly for the chia and psyllium to absorb some liquid.

  5. Enjoy as a nourishing breakfast or snack.

Tips

  • Make your own LSA fresh where possible. Otherwise, purchase refrigerated LSA and store it in the fridge.

  • Enjoy on its own or add to cooked porridge or quinoa flakes.

  • Maintain adequate fluid intake throughout the day, particularly when increasing dietary fibre.
